I was very grateful to have gotten to attend the The 25th annual GLAAD Media Awards! This specific awards show recognizes & honors media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.

Not only was the awards show entertaining as a whole but on top of that, All proceeds of the GLAAD Media Awards support GLAAD’s work with the media to bring culture-changing stories of LGBT people to millions of homes and workplaces every day in an effort to increase understanding and awareness to build support for full equality and acceptance.

It was truly an honor to be surrounded with so many inspring indivduals. It’s wonderful to see so many A-list celebrities come together for the greater good of humanity.

It was amazing to interview with civil rights leader Dolores Huerta on PBS SoCal with our Studio SoCal Managing Editor Helen Kumari. She is the co-founder of the Agricultural Workers Association, co-founder of the National Farm Workers Association which later became the United Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee. She has negotiated contracts between the YFWOC and Schenley Wine Company, and so much more! She has organized and led the way for so much. She currently is the president of the Dolores Huerta Foundation, founded in 2002, an organization that develops natural leaders at grassroot levels.

Celebrating the CCNMA: Latino Journalists of California and National Association of Hispanic Journalists partnership with my TV media colleagues at the CCNMA and NAHJ banquet. Couldn’t be possible without friends like Mekahlo. These organizations are dedicated to the recognition and advancement of Hispanics in the news industry, and the promotion of diversity in news media. They achieve this through encouragement, scholarships, and many educational programs for Latinos wanting to pursue careers in journalism. It was great to be among friends to share this night, and many well deserved colleagues earned awards!
